After School Programs


Interested in before and after school programs? McKinley has one, or more that would be a great fit for you. Our clubs are FREE. All you need is an application from the teacher whose club you wish to attend and you are set!

CSI and EDAP are after school programs here at McKinley that gives students different options to make progress academically, physically and socially.  We meet in the cafeteria at 3:05 after school and every child receives a free meal.  All students are expected to be there by 3:15 at the latest.  The clubs are as follows:

Math Tutoring- Monday and Wednesday- from 7:05-8:05 with Mrs. Walck. Tutoring club will use a variety of approaches that will be used to aid in understanding of math concepts. Some of the approaches that will be used are hands on activities (use of manipulatives); online line lessons to meet students where they are presently at and reinforce new concepts learned; small group approach.

Science Club-Tuesday and Thursday- from 3:15-4:15 with Ms. Thoren and Ms. Buck. This club teaches students how to use the 3-D printers, build bridges and explore how a greenhouse works. Students will participate in science activities and labs and even complete a complex dissection.

Moby Max-Monday and Wednesday - from 3:15-4:30 with Mr Manning.  Come to the computer lab to have fun while to learn and enhance your knowledge and skills in all content ranging from social studies to language arts to math through this computer based program.

Fitness Club-Monday and Wednesday- from 3:15 to 5:15 with Mr. Alexander.  Come play different sports like football and basketball for the first half, then workout in our weight room for the second half.  We have a lot of fun and stay healthy in doing so!

Art Club-Tuesday and Thursday - from 3:15 to 4:15 with Mrs. Bull.  Come hang out and be creative in this club.

New Mexico History- Tuesday and Thursday- from 3:15-4:15 with Mr. Schweitzer. Use this opportunity to further engage in academics and use small group tutoring to enhance performance and help students in areas of need.

Spirit Club-Tuesday through Thursday- from 3:15-5:15 with Mrs. Heck. This club works on raising school spirit and supports the athletic teams at games. The program will help students with physical endurance, coordination, flexibility, leadership skills, team building and confidence.

Soccer- Monday through Thursday from 3:15-5:15 with Mr. Potter. Second semester (starting January 2019) students will develop individual skills, encourage team building, and teach the basic fundamentals of soccer. The students will build on team spirit and working as a whole.
