Expected Behaviors

School is your job! You are expected to...

  • Be at school every day and ready to learn
  • Respect the rights of others to learn and be safe
  • Be on time to every class and be prepared to be productive
  • Have all necessary class materials each day
  • Complete and turn in work on time
  • Make up work in the time allowed
  • Dress appropriately
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all times
  • Show respect to yourself, other students and adults
  • Limit public affection to hand holding
  • Respect school and private property and share in the responsibility of maintaining school cleanliness and pride
  • Follow school rules and accept responsibility for your actions.

Certain behaviors are severe and disruptive to the educational process and can jeopardize the safety of the students. These behaviors, which are listed below, can also interfere with one’s ability to be actively engaged in a constructive learning environment.

  • Fighting
  • Defiance of school personnel/authorities
  • Profane and abusive language toward staff or other students
  • Gang related activity
  • Possession of weapons or other items that may cause or are intended to cause injury or death
  • Possession of drugs or alcohol
  • Vandalism/property damage
  • Truancy/Ditching school
  • Threatening/intimidation of other students
  • Sexual harassment
  • Bullying
  • Smoking/tobacco possession
  • Theft

These behaviors and or items are considered serious and will result in consequences including but not limited to various detentions, short-term suspension, possible hearing and long-term suspension, and/or reported to civil authorities.
